Need help with Attack Shark software?

I installed Attack Shark software, but it’s not working right and some features won’t respond the way they should. I’m trying to get my device set up properly, and I need help troubleshooting the software, fixing connection issues, and making sure everything updates and runs correctly.

Start with the boring fixes first.

  1. Remove the software.
Use Revo or Windows uninstall, then reboot.

  2. Download the newest Attack Shark software from the brand site.
A lot of the old installers are broken or mismatch the device PID.

  3. Plug the mouse or keyboard straight into a rear USB port.
Skip hubs, front panel ports, and extenders. Those fail more often than people think.

  4. Run the software as admin.
    Right click, Run as administrator.

  5. Check if your device is in wired mode.
Some models only save macros, RGB, or DPI settings over USB. Wireless mode can act weird or not respond.

  6. Kill conflicts.
Close Logitech G Hub, Razer Synapse, iCUE, SteelSeries GG, SignalRGB, VIA, anything similar. Two device tools fighting over HID access is a common mess.

  7. Update the firmware if the app shows the option.
If firmware update freezes, unplug, reboot, reconnect, try agian with only that device attached.

  8. If features still fail, test on another PC.
If it breaks on two systems, the issue is likely firmware or the device itself, not Windows.

  9. For connection issues, check Device Manager.
Look under Human Interface Devices and USB devices. If you see warning icons, uninstall that device, reboot, reconnect.

  10. If profiles don’t save, hit Apply first, then save to onboard memory if your model supports it.
A lot of people miss that step and think the app is bugged.

Post your exact model, Windows version, and what feature fails, DPI, RGB, macro, pairing, etc. That narrows it down fast.

A couple things to add beyond what @viajeroceleste already listed.

Windows can block this stuff quietly. Go to Windows Security, then Protection history, and see if Controlled Folder Access or Smart App Control tagged the Attack Shark app or its config service. I’ve seen device software “open fine” but fail to save macros/RGB because Windows was sandboxing the write permissions. Super annoying.

Also check the app’s install folder for weird permission issues. If the config file is stuck as read-only, settings look like they apply, then vanish after restart. That one wastes hours.

I’d also not assume firmware update is always the right move. Sometimes the newest firmware/app combo is the actual problem, esp if your device is a slightly older batch. If it started acting up right after an update, try finding the previous software version if Attack Shark still hosts it.

Another sneaky one: set Windows USB selective suspend to Off in advanced power settings. And in Device Manager, uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” on the USB root hubs. That fixes random disconnects and features stoping mid-use.

If it’s specifically macros not firing, test with antivirus disabled for like 2 mins. Some AV tools hate input injection.

What exact device is it, and what function is dead? Pairing, RGB, keybinds, debounce, DPI?
