IMO, there’s no perfect way to compress videos on an iPhone without losing some quality, but you can def minimize the loss. I saw what @mikeappsreviewer posted about the new Clever Cleaner app, and yeah, it’s actually decent for videos (plus all that duplicate/Live Photo stuff), and it’s really good if you want something that’s fast and not paywalled to death. But just relying on auto-compression tools sometimes means you don’t have much control.
If you want to get a bit more custom with compression (like toggle video resolution, bitrate, audio quality, etc.), I’d recommend something like Video Compress (the one with the yellow/black icon on the App Store, not some cheap knockoff). Lets you choose output size/resolution—so you pick how small your video gets vs how pixelated you can live with. Pro-tip: stick with 720p unless you’re sending home movies to a Hollywood director. Most people viewing on phones will barely notice the difference, but the storage drop is real.
Or, if you want total max control, upload vids to Google Photos (get a temp free trial for more space if needed) or even iCloud, then download the compressed version onto your phone. Sometimes that works out surprisingly well and saves space.
And, lowkey, AirDrop your vids to your Mac (if you have one) and compress with Handbrake—hands down the best quality vs size tradeoff. But that’s not as fire if you don’t want to leave your phone.
